John, this is the conference that generated the big scandal about MIT students hacking the MBTA's Charlie Card last year. Some of the work presented is very high quality. Certain vendors are outraged and try to suppress the presentations.

Yes, this is mentioned in the article. Seems they didn't want the information out either because it was embarrassing or because they didn't want the holes in their systems publicized.
