Hi, this is Frank Gruber, and I just caught up with your comments here to my piece on Cityism. I think if you read all my posts on Cityism and what I write about parking in my weekly column for surfsantamonica.com you'll find that I agree with you. My point in the Cityism articles is that from an economic point of view you have to generate enough money to put the parking underground -- I wasn't saying where it should come from, only that it was a huge cost that the economy had to shoulder. I agree the parkers should pay for it, but in a lot of economies there are a lot of people who can't afford to do so. That could mean that cities can't be rebuilt along the Cityist lines I suggest unless the decisions are made to use other funds to hide the parking.
