That's a relief. The court ruled that shopping centers in the Island Nation could legally charge for parking. It's interesting that this came up at all. Let's see – I own a private business, I happen to have some parking available. What possible business is it of the government whether or not I charge for parking?
I also note Pete's blog below that the Catholic Church is lobbying for free parking, stating that charging for parking is "unfair" to the poor. Let's see, the "poor" can afford a car, they can afford gas, insurance, and maintenance, they can also afford to shop in a shopping center, or play in an entertainment center. But they can't afford to pay for parking.
As Pete points out the church isn't arguing for free parking so folks can go to church. They are arguing that parking should be free, period. What, is charging for parking some kind of sin? What is with all this?
The folks in the Philippines have far too much time on their hands.
