I received word this morning that Greg Maxey passed away Saturday at a hospital in Annapolis, MD.
I had never formally met Greg Maxey, but I heard from many through the years of the great work he did for Central Parking, both in the DC area and as head of their European Operations. He recently joined One Parking as a partner, bringing his 30 years or parking management experience to the company.
From his bio at One Parking:
During his time with Central, Greg undertook various roles in 12 states, as well as internationally. Greg spent time in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where he took on the challenging role of establishing and developing the European arm of Central, opening locations in Greece, Spain, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, The Czech Republic and Hungary. He became the European Managing Director, overseeing all the company's on and off-street operations both on the Continent and in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Included in his responsibilities were The Messe Turm, located in Frankfurt am Main, Heathrow International Airport, Athens International Airport, The Cities of Oxford, Dublin and Edinburgh On-Street Enforcement contacts as well as approximately 150 other locations. Upon returning to the Washington, DC area, he was instrumental in leading the restructuring and expansion of the Washington, DC area. Greg attended The University of Tulsa where he studied Business Administration.
Greg is survived by his mother, his two brothers, Lance and Brad, and his partner Walter. Services for Greg will be held on Thursday October 21st at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newman Funeral Home, P.A. in Annapolis Maryland. Details for the service can be found on their website at www.fhnfuneralhome.com. There is also an electronic guest book which can be signed for friends that would like to share their thoughts about Greg but are unable to attend the services.
RIP
JVH
